Get Your Teeth Cleaned by
Experts in Gum Treatment
Preventing gum disease, and treating it if it has occurred, is vital to the health of your teeth and preventing tooth loss. Our highly skilled registered dental hygienists provide very thorough dental cleanings and deep cleanings.
Getting your teeth cleaned at a periodontal practice that specializes in gum treatment helps ensure you are getting the very best cleaning possible.

What is a Dental Cleaning?
Dental cleanings are done to remove plaque, tartar and stains from your teeth and keep your oral health in good condition. A dental cleaning reaches areas in your mouth that regular at-home brushing and flossing can’t reach. It’s recommended to get a professional dental cleaning twice a year to prevent future dental issues and keep your teeth healthy for a lifetime.
Getting a Dental Cleaning at Castaño
Periodontics & Dental Implants

Oral Exam and X-Rays
When you come in for your cleaning, Dr. Castaño will do a comprehensive oral exam and full-mouth X-rays as a first step. He will check your teeth and gum health, do a periodontal exam and look at the X-rays. He will discuss with you any problems you have been experiencing with your teeth or gums.

Gentle, Thorough Cleanings
Our hygienists perform gentle but very thorough cleanings. They will use an intraoral camera to get a good look at the condition of your teeth and gums and show you any areas that may need extra attention at home. After cleanings, they may also use Arestin, a local antibiotic that is placed directly into any infected gum pockets to target harmful bacteria.

Deep Cleanings
Unlike a regular dental cleaning, a deep cleaning, also known as scaling and root planing, targets the deeper layers of the gums and tooth roots below the gum line. This process is essential for preventing gum disease progression, promoting gum health, and avoiding tooth loss.
Our highly trained hygienists keep you comfortable at all times, and they ensure you have been properly numbed using local anesthesia before beginning the procedure.

Keeping You Comfortable
We go out of our way to create a comfortable, homey and welcoming environment for our patients. The office is stocked with comfort amenities and our hygienists are licensed to provide local anesthesia and nitrous oxide, for added comfort, if needed.
